Most Popular Social Media Tools

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

With all the Social Media buzz going around, it’s hard not to hear about it. I read more than 10 articles a day about social media, which is more than 50 articles a week just to stay up to date with current events in my industry. I do not think anyone should do the same, so I am going to give you the meat and potatoes of this business.

Currently, the most popular social media tools I have seen companies using are Blogs, Online Videos, Facebook and Twitter. Each platform has a distinctive way to deliver your message. The business owners I have worked with are excited about this low cost solution for marketing their products and communicating with clients. For more information, go to: www.wordpress.com, www.youtube.com, www.facebook.com and www.twitter.com. Good luck

Outshine Your Competition

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Are you using social media to promote your business?  Or better yet, is your competition? If they are not, they soon will be.  If they are, your campaign must outshine theirs.  Keep in mind, when consumers search for products and services, they are comparing the companies they find information about.  If you are not on the internet and your competition is, it is likely you will not be considered.  If you are both using the internet to market your product, then you better outshine them.

Superior Virtual Services teaches business owners how to be different and how to uniquely develop long-term relationships using social media.  We help companies develop a strategic plan that will separate them from their competition. Don't get discouraged with Social Media

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

At my seminar this past week, I asked the participants for their “Aha” moment in Social Media. One gentleman said  he wanted to give-up and quit using social media in the beginning.  I asked why, and he said he did not see an immediate response from his social media efforts. This story is very common for beginners in Social Media…they quit just before receiving the prize.

Participating in social media for business purposes is a long-term commitment.  I have heard people compare social media to investing.  If you put your money in an investment and take it out 3 weeks later, it’s unlikely that you will make any additional money. Yet, if you keep it invested, over time you will likely increase your investment. Social Media behaves the same way. The longer you stay in, the greater the reward.

Social Media is not a quick fix.   Social media sites are facilities that promote building relationships. So jump in,  build relationships and don’t get discouraged.

Social Media…What site should I start with?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

One of the most popular questions I am asked is, “To be part of Social Media, what site should I start with?” This question usually comes at the end of my Social Media Marketing Seminar or after a one-on-one consultation.

Since I work with business owners to expand their current marketing plan to include social media applications, my answer is always the same…start with LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com).

Through my experience, the basic concept for LinkedIn is…connect with people you know to meet people they know. Sound simple enough?

The registration is easy, sign up and then get started. You will begin by building a profile and then upload your contacts. The profile building process will take a couple hours to do correctly, so give yourself enough time. After you build your profile, you will upload your contacts and start connecting.

LinkedIn has a lot of great features. Here are some of my favorites: (more…)
